Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced specialist Engineer responsible for the daily engineering and maintenance of power generation, electrical and instrumentation systems.

Responsibilities:

Effectively support and contribute to the planning and management of day-to-day and longer EC&I Engineering and Maintenance strategies, policies and procedures, balancing commercial and safety considerations.
Maintain and trouble shoot plant power distribution and control systems and electrical equipment to the highest possible standard maximizing availability and reliability with strict observance of plant safety policies and procedures.
Take an active, SHE and commercial focus in leading and supporting the EC&I outage planning and preparation. This is with both other Departments and Outage Contract managers and Alliance Partners. Ensure a balance between outage and running plant requirements is delivered.
Monitor and evaluate effectiveness as required regarding any change or improvement management.
Undertake agreed audits, surveys and other monitoring processes to the required standards and timeframes of safety initiatives and programmes.
Recommend and implement maintenance and operational improvements that enhance performance and availability.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on specific plant electrical and instrumentation components.
Preparation, negotiation, management and evaluation of assigned EC&I contracts, including maintenance of records and documentation
Ability to take an active and leading role regarding the company’s KPI’s.
Perform routine and emergency plant electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting and maintenance functions including, but not limited to LV/HV motors. Transformers, switchgear and generator controls and protection.
Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes.
Investigate and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment problems, including but not limited to AC, DC digital, analogue, DCS software, turbine controls, CEM system and PLC’s.
Generating and supporting the implementation of written protocols, reports, projects and initiatives.
Maintain records of readings, test results, and data on all assigned equipment and during overhauls and preventive maintenance.
Coordinate daily work activities and equipment status with other plant employees.
Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on equipment failures.
Assist with routine maintenance training and equipment operation training of other site employees.
Support of EC&I Engineer callout rota.
Work reasonable overtime as and when required to maintain equipment availability.
Act at a supervisory level but also act as a Team Leader within the company.
Actively and consistently demonstrates enthusiasm and drive in order to support and meet business, plant, department and personal goals, within agreed timeframes. Takes full responsibility for results
